his is the story of Rosebud Cottage

Rosebud lived in the sweetest cottage beside a tiny sparkling stream.

The Lord had blessed her with a green thumb and she had a beautiful garden filled with birds and butterflies, roses, violets, hollyhocks, and daisies.

Rosebud loved her family but she longed for her true love to come and sweep her off her feet. She prayed every morning and every night.

One beautiful summer morning while Rosebud was working in her garden, Henry the cart maker and local Woodright came by on his way to his shop and looked over the garden gate hoping to catch a glimpse of Rosebud.

If Rosebud would only look up this morning………..

Henry looked at Rosebud and thought how beautiful she was among the flowers. He sighed and continued to
walk on down the path. Just then Rosebud pricked her finger on a rosebush thorn and cried out. Henry quickly turned and leapt over the garden wall. Just as he reached her he asked if she was hurt. She looked up into his sweet, handsome face and slowly smiled. Henry, the cart maker, she had seen him at the bakery and thought him handsome, and here he was in her garden this morning. She stammered a faint, “No, I’m fine, thank you.”

Henry reached for her hand and pulled her up. He examined her fingers but found no serious wounds. He kept holding Rosebud’s hand even as she gently pulled it away from his. He thought her blush made her even more beautiful in the early morning light. Rosebud thanked him for coming to her rescue even though she was in no serious harm. Henry could think of nothing more to say to Rosebud, he had never felt this way before, all he could do was say goodbye. He quickly crossed to the gate and waved as he started down the path. Rosebud’s heart was beating faster and faster as she peeked over the garden wall trying to catch one last glimpse of Henry.

All day Rosebud’s thoughts were of Henry. She thought about how gentle his big, rough hands had touched her fingers as he checked her wounds, how his shy smile spread across his face creating deep dimples in his cheeks, the sparkle in his brown eyes as he looked at her. Henry was different than anyone Rosebud had ever met before.
